  1. The Hosted WebAR feature is amazing... but it lacks the option to take pictures/videos. This is a huge barrier as many people don't have Snapchat but would like to use our filters and we don't have the resources to make our own App/Website.

  3. This is not exactly 5.0-specific but it could be a good opportunity to implement new native hints to Lens Studio. Specifically I'm frequently in need of using a hint to trigger the "SnapRecordStartEvent" event. A hint for "SnapImageCaptureEvent" could also be added. These events have been added somewhat recently, however no hints were added along them.

  4. Would be great if the user context system could get more information.

Right now for instance we can only get a city name.

It would be nice to get the state/province and country as well. This has many uses and clients ask for it basically every day of my life lol. For instance, showing sports teams, showing license plates on 3d cars, flag back drops, localized holidays, and many more.

  6. Current RenderTexture's have no way to have custom initialization, which is useful for scenarios when trying to use RenderTextures without a clear flag (which also doesn't currently work). This would allow for painting effects without having to use ProceduralTextureProviders (which are expensive due to CPU access and lack of block memory writing operations).

  7. When making a text component, it should be possible to have multiple text styling options within the text field. For example, it should be possible to only have one word be in a bold weight and blue, and the rest of the text in regular weight and white.

  8. For now AI Portrait work on Snapchat app but not on web (even official Snap WebAR Link) and neither on iOS app using Camera Kit.
This would be a very nice feature to have 🤞

  9. When pressing ‘W’ to move an object, the ‘Space’ setting (World/Parent/Local) is reset to 'Parent'. When rotating with 'E', it resets to 'Local'. It would be great if a custom space setting would be remembered, ideally per SceneObject.

  10. I love the turn based player info component, and it would be great if we could use the Bitmoji 3D head with that. If I try to just add the self Bitmoji 3D head, I get an error about it being restricted due to the network access of the turn based component. However, the turn based player info component can't do just the head, it pulls in the whole Bitmoji body.

  11. Usually I like to send my lenses to my iPhone to record a preview video. I save it straight from Snapchat to my gallery but when I try to use it as a preview in LS I always get a message saying "Uploaded file is invalid. Codec is not supported, please use H264.

So I always have to convert the video, which is an extra step.

Apparently the file type saved from Snapchat is a mp4, but I don't know what codec it uses. Is is possible to accept the same video codec that Snapchat uses? This would make the…

  12. Sometimes Lens Studio logger is insufficient and doesn't properly capture crashes. Access to crash data or logcat would rectify this. In general, developers need lower level access than provided

  14. Currently connected lenses have no mechanism for quitting either to go back to single player in Lenses or to join a different session without restarting the application. Having this would help users be able to engage in the Lens longer without having to quit.

  15. Navigating and interacting with websites is a real pain point on the Spectacles at the moment. Being able to create custom UI elements in lenses to control websites would make the problems a lot better.

Doing this with JavaScript console commands mapped to lens input is the most obvious choice, but introduces security risk for the end user. But i think it's worth looking into as it would open up a world of possibilities.

  16. Hey team,

As a Snap Lens Network partner, we at Arexa & Bharat XR have been actively hosting SnapAR meetups across India — bringing together creators, students, and professionals to explore the power of AR using Snapchat’s ecosystem. In our recent sessions, we introduced participants to the new Lens Web Builder and Lens Studio mobile app, and the feedback has been phenomenal. The tools are incredibly easy, fun, and accessible — especially for first-time users.

That said, we wanted to share a small but valuable suggestion based on our experience:

During our meetups, we ask all participants to use our…

  17. When writing TypeScript code that contains errors, the preview stops functioning, even if the erroneous code has not been added to the scene. Additionally, the logger does not display any information regarding the errors.

    Steps to Reproduce:

    1. Write TypeScript code with syntax or type errors.
    2. Observe that the preview stops working.
    3. Check the logger for error messages.

Expected Behavior: The preview should continue to work, and the logger should display relevant error messages indicating what is wrong with the TypeScript code.

Actual Behavior: The preview ceases to function, and no error messages are shown in the logger.

  18. During the latest SLN all hands the team gave some insights into game lenses that caught my eye:

Having the user's front camera visible with picture in picture lead to higher engagement on spotlight. Versus focusing entirely on the game lead to higher retention, and greater shareability between friends.

As lenses become more and more complex, it would be great to have more insight into what makes our lenses engaging. Having a A/B testing suite would go a long way for optimization.

Give us the ability able to swap out or toggle certain components, and see which variant gives the…

  20. The old models I created while Snap ML was in beta don't load in Lens Studio 5.0.

I also tried importing the .dng file to LS 5, but I can't make it work. Is it possible to make it compatible with LS 5? Currently I need to create these kind of project in LS 4.

Also I feel like the quality of the models created today is lower than the ones created during the closed beta.

    Thanks
    Caio
