Lens categories not applying after publishing (Primary & Secondary remain blank)
For the past ~3 months, I’ve been consistently facing an issue where lens categories are not applied after publishing.
Regardless of the lens type (Game, 3D, ML, or Beauty), both Primary and Secondary categories remain blank on the published lens, even though the lens is live and public.
This impacts:
Lens discovery and reach
Proper placement in the Games category
Fullscreen game UX for game-based lenses
Because of this, game lenses are not reaching the intended audience, and overall views have dropped significantly.
This issue is occurring across multiple lenses, not just one, and seems to be unrelated to the lens content itself.
Attaching screenshots for reference.
Would really appreciate this being looked into or prioritized, as correct categorization is critical for publishing and discovering game lenses.

Hello all,
We have removed the ability for users to specify tags. this was intended because our moderation team follows a categorization system and is the team that makes the determination.
We are currently working on ways to make their designations more transparent and accurate. Feel free to leave more feedback on ways that you think we can do better and we will have updates soon.

Hello Kalen
I have some examples too(but not gaming ones): where there are no categories at all, or no additional ones. Or the selected categories are questionable.485dfd96-0b07-47f8-820b-e464c3896079

It also happened that when I uploaded the same lens twice, it got two different sets of categories.

Good afternoon Gulam and Paula,
I hope you both are doing well! Would you be able to please send examples of your Lenses that do not have primary or secondary categories assigned? If you have the Lens ID, that would be quite helpful for us to investigate why those tags are blank.
Thank you!

Hey,
I’ve noticed recently that some of my lenses are not being categorized correctly. I tried adding instructions on the main screen — and while this worked for some lenses, it didn’t for others.
I’m leaving a few examples below:
1. A tap-based game where you perform actions without getting caught. It was categorized as Camera Style, which doesn’t really fit the experience. It’s especially important for this lens to be categorized correctly, since it needs to be shown in full screen while playing.
2. Two other game lenses, such as do your skincare and save the dog. These are drag-and-drop games where objects must be placed in the correct order. They were also categorized incorrectly, and one of them wasn’t categorized at all.
I feel this type of lens still falls under the game category, possibly puzzle. If that’s not the right fit, maybe beauty or a similar category would make more sense.
I’m happy to answer any questions if it helps clarify this!
